The Brighton and Sussex Waves are one of the only sports team comprised of both Brighton and Sussex university students. Our team was founded in 2004 in order to support the Brighton Tsunami American Football team, who we still join with for WAVENAMI socials every week. However cheer has since evolved, now fully recognised as a sport we compete Nationally, in both cheer and dance as well as supporting the Panthers American Football team with our game day squad.

The Waves are comprised of 6 squads which are currently:
Waves Atlantis - Level 2 Co-ed
Waves Odyssey - Level 3 All Girl
Heatwaves - Pom
Tidalwave - Jazz
Shockwave - Hip Hop
Sirens - Game day

Each squad trains once a week at Falmer Sports Centre:

Tuesday 8pm-10pm
Wednesday 5pm-7pm
Thursday 7pm-10pm
​
Additional Sunday training/ tumbling sessions are also available throughout the year.
​
Tryouts are held at the beginning of the academic year and we love to welcome new talent and enthusiasm to the squad, however we can only accept students from Brighton University, University of Sussex.
